STOP: Maintain a Safe Distance
Always assume any downed or low-hanging power line is energized and hazardous. An energized line may not exhibit visible signs like sparking, smoking, or noise. Keep at least 30 feet away from downed distribution lines and a minimum of 100 feet from downed transmission lines.

LOOK: Assess the Area for Potential Hazards
Carefully inspect the surroundings, as downed lines can energize the ground and nearby objects. Maintain the same safe distance from anything that could be energized, and advise others to stay clear.
LIVE: Report the Downed Power Line Immediately
Call your power company to report the downed power line, and 911. . The operator will notify police and fire to make sure people stay away. Never approach or attempt to move a downed line under any circumstances.
